No phase change is required during filtration
02 / ULTRAFILTRATION
UF Ultrafiltration System
Hollow-fibre membranes retain suspended solids, colloids, bacteria and macromolecules. UF can operate as an independent clarification step or as stable pretreatment for RO.

Performance depends on feedwater and membrane selection
Automatic cleaning sequences maintain membrane permeability
PROCESS ROUTE
Typical Process Route
This is a typical configuration logic, not a fixed equipment list. The final design depends on feed analysis, target requirements, capacity and site constraints.
- 01
Feed Screening
Remove large particles and protect membrane modules
- 02
Dosing as Needed
Coagulation or disinfection according to water quality
- 03
UF Filtration
Hollow-fibre membranes retain suspended contaminants
- 04
Backwash
Periodic hydraulic cleaning restores flux
- 05

TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE
Technical Notes & FAQ
Clear principles, prerequisites and operating limits help determine whether a process is suitable before quotation.
What is the difference between UF and RO?
UF mainly removes suspended and macromolecular contaminants; RO also removes dissolved salts. They often work in series rather than replace each other.
What affects UF flux?
Water temperature, turbidity, organic loading, membrane material and cleaning strategy all influence sustainable flux.
Why is backwashing required?
Retained contaminants build up on the membrane surface. Controlled backwashing and chemically enhanced cleaning recover permeability.
Can UF directly produce drinking or ultrapure water?
UF is a barrier step, not a complete guarantee for every final-water target. Disinfection, RO or polishing may still be required.
