- For acid mist or alkaline exhaust from pickling, plating, etching, chemical cleaning and chemical preparation.
- A larger fan alone can worsen hood imbalance, noise and energy use; total airflow alone may miss fugitive emissions.
- Corrosiveness, temperature, humidity, droplets, dust and co-contaminants influence materials and process selection.

Information Needed Before Design
- Process and source locations; components, concentrations, temperature, humidity, dust, oil mist and condensation.
- Airflow and schedule at each point, simultaneity and existing hood-capture conditions.
- Existing ducts, fan, treatment equipment, stack, monitoring data and applicable emission requirements.
- Corrosion, flammability, toxicity and high-temperature risks, plus space, noise, energy and shutdown limits.

Typical Process Logic
- Enclosure/hood → branch & main duct balancing → pretreatment if needed → scrubber/multi-stage treatment → demister → fan → compliant stack.
- Absorbent, liquid-to-gas ratio, packing, recirculation, bleed and stage count depend on contaminant load and target.

Instrumentation & Control
- Monitor recirculating-liquid pH/level, pressure drop, flow, fan and pump status; interlock low level, pump failure and abnormal pressure drop.
- Combustible mixtures or hazardous chemicals require dedicated safety review; a generic scrubber is not a substitute for explosion/fire protection design.

Risks & Project Boundaries
- Define whether hoods/ducts, civil foundations, stack, online monitoring, waste-liquid disposal and fire/explosion protection are included.
- Scrubbing transfers pollutants into liquid, which must be managed as wastewater or hazardous waste as applicable.
- No fixed universal removal efficiency is promised; evaluate industry, local, EIA and permit requirements.
